The final of the STRAWBAR Showdown Competition – Taste Without Waste was successfully completed, promoting sustainability and creativity in the world of cocktails. The final took place at the Bar Academy facilities in Athens, on October 8th, attracting the best bartenders who competed to create an innovative and sustainable cocktail recipe.
The competition, organized by Strawbar in collaboration with Bar Academy, was based on the philosophy of waste reduction and the promotion of the zero waste concept. Contestants were challenged to make the most of their ingredients, creating cocktails that leave no waste behind and supporting a more sustainable culture in the cocktail industry
Judging Panel
The competition’s judging panel consisted of three top professionals in the field, who brought their expertise and experience to evaluate the contestants’ creations:
- Christos Konstantinidis – Global Operations Manager, Strawbar Spirit.
- Dimitris Koupritziotis – Spirits Editor at Oneman.gr and Wine Guru magazine.
- Michail Angelos Zeibekis – R&D at Line Athens.
The Finalists and Their Creations
The 8 finalists who reached the final stood out with cocktail recipes distinguished by originality, creativity, and a commitment to sustainability. In the final round, the contestants presented their creations before the judges, explaining the philosophy behind their drinks and how they managed their ingredients to minimize waste.
The top three finalists won a seminar at Bar Academy.
The Big Winner
The competition was intense and full of creativity, but in the end, one contestant emerged as the big winner. Angelos Anagnostopoulos stood out, and his recipe will become the key STRAWBAR serving suggestion in Greece and abroad.
The winner also earned the opportunity to present a seminar in collaboration with STRAWBAR at the Athens Bar Show 2024, one of the top events in the field in Greece.
